Student Development Time

Student Development Time (or SDT) is the way that all students start their day at Gosford Hill School. Running from 8:30am to 9:50am from Monday to Thursday, students work through a planned curriculum, with their tutor team, under the direction of Heads of Year.

The programme of activities that students complete is varied, and includes elements of the personal development curriculum, citizenship curriculum, careers education, as well as activities linked to current affairs and topical issues. Students complete activities that promote community action within the school and wider community, as well as mental health activities throughout the SDT programme.  

Students attend year group assemblies once a week, where they cover aspects of their SMSC education, as well as assemblies linked to the Gosford Hill School values of Responsible, Respectful and Resilient. Assemblies are lead by Heads of Year, members of the Senior Leadership Team, external speakers as well as students themselves.

The programme for each year group is specifically designed to be age appropriate and personalised to our students at our school. 

During terms 4 to 6, all KS3 students will be given the opportunity to achieve a Gold, Silver or Bronze Gosford Award. This award not only encourages students to do the right thing, but also encourages them to do something that is enriching for others, both in school and the wider community of Kidlington and surrounding villages.

The SDT programme has been designed alongside the PSHE curriculum, to ensure that students have a range of opportunities to cover the appropriate curriculum throughout their time at Gosford Hill School.
